The publisher’s description: “Aliana loves observing everything in nature. When she notices how bright the light of the full moon shines into her room, she spends time learning about the moon and experimenting with light. As she prepares for her brother s birthday, she plans a wonderful surprise to be revealed with the next full moon.”
Laura Roettiger is another talented debut author. This is a really sweet story about an inquisitive young girl and her family. Aliana is sweet, loving, and smart. I love the STEM focus and the family values the book portrays. Aliana’s parents are supportive of her imaginative and messy adventures, and Aliana has a close relationship with her little brother, Gustav. I also love that the family looks just like mine – Latino father, white mother, and two beautiful children. It also includes educational back matter about the phases of the moon, with some beautiful lunar illustrations.
This one is kid approved, particularly by my six year old. She loved the story and immediately asked to read it again – always a good sign!
